Bhubaneswar: A serious allegation regarding recruitment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar has come to light, with claims that some job aspirants were allegedly asked to pay money in exchange for employment under Bombay Integrated Security (India) Ltd. (BIS), a private security agency associated with security services at the institute.
According to allegations made by some aspirants, they were offered jobs after allegedly paying large sums of money. One of the claims doing the rounds is that candidates were allegedly asked to pay around ₹2 lakh for a job.
The allegations have raised questions over the transparency of the recruitment process and whether proper verification procedures were followed before candidates were engaged.
Around 30 Candidates Reportedly Got Jobs
According to the allegations, around 30 candidates were reportedly recruited in the recent period under BIS. Some of the candidates allegedly paid substantial amounts of money to secure the jobs.
If the alleged demand of ₹2 lakh per candidate was applicable to all 30 candidates, the total amount would work out to approximately ₹60 lakh. However, this is only a mathematical calculation based on the allegations and should not be treated as the actual amount collected.
The exact number of candidates involved, the amount allegedly paid by each person and the total financial transactions would need to be established through documentary evidence and an independent investigation.
Questions Over Document Verification
One of the most serious aspects of the allegations concerns the verification of candidates and their documents.
According to the claims, some candidates allegedly received employment after making payments without undergoing proper document verification. If established, such a practice could raise serious concerns about the recruitment process.
Security personnel working in a major healthcare institution are entrusted with important responsibilities. Therefore, verification of identity, educational qualifications, background and other required documents is an important part of any recruitment process.
The recruitment records of the candidates in question, including their applications, selection process, interview details, joining documents and verification records, could therefore be crucial in establishing the facts.
Screenshots of Money Transfers Surface
Adding another dimension to the allegations, screenshots purportedly showing money transfers have surfaced.
The screenshots shared in connection with the allegations show transactions involving different amounts, including payments of ₹20,000 and ₹30,000, while another transaction of ₹4,000 is shown as failed. The screenshots appear to be from a digital payment platform and are associated with a contact saved as “Barik Babu BIS.”
However, a payment screenshot by itself does not establish the purpose of a transaction or prove that the money was paid in exchange for a job.
The authenticity of the screenshots, the identity of the account holder, the purpose of the payments and the relationship between the parties would need to be verified through bank records, UPI transaction details, phone conversations and other supporting evidence.
Names of BIS Personnel Being Mentioned
Amid the allegations, the name of Asit Das, who is being identified as an HR official associated with BIS, has also come up. Another person named Bijay Barik is also being mentioned in connection with the allegations.
However, it is important to clearly state that mentioning a person’s name in an allegation does not establish their involvement in any wrongdoing.
Any claim that these individuals collected money or facilitated jobs must be independently verified through evidence and their statements should be obtained before reaching any conclusion.
Who Collected the Money?
If the allegations are found to have substance, several key questions will need to be answered.
Selected?
Investigators would also need to examine whether the candidates underwent interviews, whether their documents were verified, whether appointment or joining letters were issued properly and whether their recruitment was recorded in the official records of the agency.
AIIMS and BIS Response Will Be Crucial
With the allegations now coming to light, the response from AIIMS Bhubaneswar and BIS will be significant.
Several issues require clarification, including the exact recruitment procedure followed by BIS, the number of people recruited, the eligibility criteria, the document-verification process and whether any complaint regarding payment of money for recruitment has previously been received.
If the allegations are incorrect, the concerned authorities can clarify the recruitment process and provide relevant documentation to establish the facts.
On the other hand, if an investigation establishes that money was actually demanded or collected in return for employment, appropriate action would be necessary against those responsible.
A ₹2-Lakh Job Offer Raises Serious Questions
For thousands of young people, getting a job is the result of years of education, preparation and hard work. Allegations that employment could be secured by paying money therefore raise serious concerns.
The matter becomes particularly significant because the alleged recruitment is connected with security services at a major healthcare institution.
At present, these remain allegations and claims that require verification. No individual or organisation should be held guilty solely on the basis of unverified claims, screenshots or social-media discussions.
The key questions now are: Was money actually demanded from job aspirants? Were around 30 candidates recruited through such a process? Were the alleged payments connected to their appointments? And did anyone misuse their position to facilitate recruitment?
A transparent and independent verification of recruitment records, payment trails and statements of the alleged beneficiaries could help establish the truth.
